Chianti Classico is the historic heart of Chianti in Tuscany, Italy, the hilly zone between Florence and Siena whose wines carry the black rooster seal. WineFortune tracks five wines here from four producers, among them Barone Ricasoli, Querceto and Tenuta Tignanello (Antinori). All are still red wines with DOCG status.

The zone is built on Sangiovese. The grape gives red wines with bright cherry fruit, firm acidity and savoury, earthy tannins, shaped by high vineyard sites, galestro and alberese soils and a warm continental climate softened by Mediterranean influence. The classification runs from the annata through Riserva to the Gran Selezione tier at the top.

None of the tracked wines currently has enough WineFortune trades and listings to carry an index median, so no price figures are shown for this hub. The WineFortune index, where it exists, is a median per 75 cl bottle built from WineFortune's own trades and listings over 90 days.
